About Temperature
Temperature converts between Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin, showing both other scales at once. It also flags values below absolute zero, which is a common sign of a typo rather than a physics breakthrough.
How to use it
- Enter a temperature and select the scale it is in.
- Both other scales appear immediately.
Questions
What is the formula?
°F = °C × 9/5 + 32, and K = °C + 273.15. The two scales cross at −40, which reads the same in both.
Why does Kelvin have no degree symbol?
Because it is an absolute scale measured from absolute zero, not a scale of degrees between reference points. It is written "300 K", not "300 °K".
What is a normal body temperature?
About 37 °C or 98.6 °F, though healthy readings range roughly 36.1–37.2 °C and vary through the day.
