About JSON Formatter

JSON Formatter prettifies, minifies and validates JSON, reporting the exact parse error when something is wrong rather than just refusing. Pasting a production payload into a random online formatter sends it to someone else’s server; this runs entirely in your browser, which matters when the JSON contains customer data or a token.

How to use it

  1. Paste your JSON.
  2. Choose 2 spaces, 4 spaces, tabs or minified.
  3. Copy the result, or save it as a .json file.

Questions

Why does my JSON fail to parse?

Usually a trailing comma after the last item, single quotes instead of double, unquoted keys, or a stray comment. JSON allows none of those — the error message gives the position.

Is it safe to paste real data?

Nothing is transmitted — there is no server to transmit to. Still rotate any credential you paste anywhere, on principle.

What does the node count mean?

The total number of values in the structure, counting nested objects and arrays. A rough measure of how large the payload really is.

JSON Formatter is free and runs entirely in your browser. No account, no upload, no watermark, no limit on use.
