Caption Formatter
Line breaks that survive pasting, and hashtags below the fold.
About Caption Formatter
Caption Formatter makes line breaks survive pasting into Instagram, which collapses runs of blank lines. It puts an invisible braille-blank character on each empty line so the spacing holds. It can also push hashtags below the "more" fold, and previews where Instagram truncates your caption in feed.
How to use it
- Write your caption with normal blank lines between paragraphs.
- Leave the spacer option on so the breaks survive.
- Copy the formatted version and paste it straight into Instagram.
Questions
Why do my line breaks disappear?
Instagram strips consecutive blank lines when text is pasted. A line containing one invisible character is not empty, so it survives.
Where does Instagram cut the caption?
At about 125 characters in feed, after which it shows "... more". Put the hook before that point — the preview panel shows exactly where it falls.
Should hashtags go below the fold?
It keeps the caption looking clean while the tags still count. Putting them in the first comment achieves the same and is equally common.
Caption Formatter is free and runs entirely in your browser. No account, no upload, no watermark, no limit on use.
