Weighted Grade
Your standing across homework, quizzes, midterm and final.
About Weighted Grade
Weighted Grade works out where you stand across categories with different weights — homework, quizzes, midterm, final. The useful part is that it separates your grade so far (across the portion already marked) from points banked toward the final total, which are different numbers that students routinely confuse.
How to use it
- List each category with its weight from the syllabus.
- Enter the scores you have so far, leaving unmarked categories blank.
- Read your grade so far and how much of the course is still to play for.
Questions
Why do my weights need to add to 100?
Because they describe shares of the whole grade. The tool warns if they do not — usually a missing category.
What is the difference between "grade so far" and "points banked"?
Grade so far is your average across what has been marked. Points banked is how much of the final 100 you have already earned. If half the course is unmarked, those numbers differ a lot.
Can I use it to plan what I need?
Yes — type a hypothetical score into an unmarked category and watch the total move.
