Crop Image
Free crop or a fixed ratio, with a live overlay.
About Crop Image
Crop Image cuts a rectangle out of a picture, either freely or locked to a fixed ratio like 1:1, 4:5 or 16:9. A live overlay shows exactly what will be kept, and the pixel dimensions of the crop update as you adjust it. Fixed ratios are what you want when the result has to fit a specific slot — a profile picture, a thumbnail, a social post.
How to use it
- Drop in an image.
- Pick a ratio, or leave it on Free. Drag the sliders to position and size the crop box.
- Click Crop, then download the result.
Questions
What ratio do I need?
1:1 for profile pictures and square posts, 4:5 for Instagram portrait, 16:9 for video thumbnails and slides, 9:16 for stories and reels.
Does cropping reduce quality?
No pixels are resampled — you simply get fewer of them. The kept area is exactly as sharp as it was.
Why can I not drag the crop box directly?
Positioning uses sliders rather than dragging, which is more precise on a touchscreen and avoids fighting with page scrolling.
Crop Image is free and runs entirely in your browser. No account, no upload, no watermark, no limit on use.
