About Rotate & Flip

Rotate & Flip turns an image in quarter steps and mirrors it horizontally or vertically, with a live preview. Phone photos sometimes arrive sideways because the orientation was stored as metadata rather than applied to the pixels; rotating here writes the correction into the image itself, so it appears the right way up everywhere.

How to use it

  1. Drop in an image.
  2. Use the rotate and flip buttons until the preview looks right.
  3. Click Apply and export, then download.

Questions

Why does my photo look correct on my phone but sideways elsewhere?

The camera stored the rotation as an EXIF orientation tag instead of rotating the pixels. Some software honours the tag and some ignores it. Rotating here bakes it in permanently.

What is the difference between rotating 180° and flipping twice?

Rotating turns the image; flipping mirrors it. Flipping horizontally then vertically does equal a 180° rotation, but a single flip produces a mirror image — text will read backwards.

Rotate & Flip is free and runs entirely in your browser. No account, no upload, no watermark, no limit on use.
