Carousel Splitter
Cut a wide image into 2–10 slides for a swipeable post.
About Carousel Splitter
Carousel Splitter cuts one wide image into 2–10 equal slides, so that when they are posted as an Instagram carousel the picture appears to continue across the swipe. It is the technique behind panoramic feed posts and wide banner graphics. Slides can be square (1:1) or portrait (4:5) — portrait takes up more screen and generally performs better. Everything is cut on a canvas in your browser, so the image is never uploaded.
How to use it
- Drop in a wide image — a panorama, a banner, or anything much wider than it is tall.
- Choose how many slides to cut it into, and whether they should be square or portrait.
- Click Split, then download all. Post them to Instagram in numbered order, slide 1 first.
Questions
How wide should the original image be?
For square slides, aim for 1080 pixels of width per slide — so 3240 wide for three slides. Portrait slides want 1080 × 1350 each. Starting wider is fine; starting narrower means the slides get upscaled and look soft.
Will the slides line up seamlessly?
Yes, they are exact cuts with no gap. Instagram shows a small gutter between slides as you swipe, so allow for a minor visual break — designs where the seam falls on empty space read best.
How many slides can Instagram carousels hold?
Up to 20, though 3 to 5 is normal for a split panorama. This tool goes up to 10.
Carousel Splitter is free and runs entirely in your browser. No account, no upload, no watermark, no limit on use.
