Profile Picture Cropper
Frame and export a square avatar that reads well as a circle.
About Profile Picture Cropper
Profile Picture Cropper frames and exports a square avatar at 640 × 640, with a live circular preview. Every platform masks profile pictures to a circle, so the corners of your square are always cut — the preview shows what actually survives, which is the part people get wrong when a logo has text near the edge.
How to use it
- Drop in a photo or logo.
- Use zoom and the position sliders until the circular preview looks right.
- Export and download.
Questions
What size should a profile picture be?
640 × 640 is comfortably above what any platform displays, so it stays sharp on retina screens without being wastefully large. Instagram shows it at 320px, most others less.
Why does my logo get cut off?
The circular mask removes roughly 21% of a square’s area at the corners. Logos with text near the edge need to be scaled down and centred.
Should the background be transparent?
It gets flattened to white here, since the export is JPEG. Platforms show profile pictures on varying backgrounds, so a defined background is usually safer than transparency anyway.
Profile Picture Cropper is free and runs entirely in your browser. No account, no upload, no watermark, no limit on use.
