Caption Length Checker
Live counts against every platform’s character limit.
About Caption Length Checker
Caption Length Checker measures your text against every major platform’s limit at once — X at 280, Instagram captions at 2,200, bios at 150, LinkedIn at 3,000, YouTube titles at 100 — with a bar showing how close you are to each. It also counts hashtags, mentions, emoji and lines, so you can see the shape of a post before publishing it.
How to use it
- Paste or write your caption.
- Watch the counts and the per-platform bars update as you type.
- Anything over a limit turns red with the overage shown.
Questions
How are emoji counted?
As single characters here. X counts some emoji as two, and non-Latin scripts differently again, so leave a little headroom if you are close to 280.
Does the Instagram bio limit include line breaks?
Yes, every character counts toward the 150, including spaces and line breaks. It is tighter than it looks.
Should I aim for the maximum?
No. Long captions get truncated in feed after roughly 125 characters on Instagram. The limit is a ceiling, not a target.
Caption Length Checker is free and runs entirely in your browser. No account, no upload, no watermark, no limit on use.
