About Fancy Text

Fancy Text converts your writing into Unicode maths alphabets — bold, italic, script, monospace, double-struck and more. Platforms that strip formatting from bios still render these, because they are real characters rather than markup. That is also the catch: they are not actually bold text, and assistive technology handles them badly.

How to use it

  1. Type your text.
  2. Every style appears immediately.
  3. Copy the one you want and paste it into your bio or caption.

Questions

Why does this work when the platform has no bold option?

Because these are distinct Unicode characters that happen to look bold, not formatting instructions. The platform stores them like any other letter.

Is there a downside?

Yes, a real one. Screen readers announce these character by character or skip them entirely, so a bio written in them is unreadable to blind users. They are also not searchable. Use them for a word or two, never a paragraph.

Why do some styles not work on my phone?

Coverage depends on the device font. Script and double-struck are the most likely to appear as empty boxes on older Android.

Fancy Text is free and runs entirely in your browser. No account, no upload, no watermark, no limit on use.
