Thread Splitter
Cut a long post into numbered parts that fit the limit.
About Thread Splitter
Thread Splitter takes a long piece of writing and cuts it into numbered posts that each fit a character limit — 280 for X, 500 for Threads, or whatever you set. It only breaks between words, never mid-word, and it reserves room for the counter it appends, so no post ends up one character over once the "3/7" is added. Each part has its own copy button so you can paste them one at a time.
How to use it
- Paste your full piece of writing into the box.
- Set the character limit — 280 for X, 500 for Threads.
- Copy each numbered post in turn and publish them as a thread.
Questions
Does it break words in half?
No. It only splits at word boundaries, so every post reads cleanly.
Why do some posts come out shorter than the limit?
Because the next word would not fit. Keeping words whole means each post ends a little early rather than truncating.
Can I turn the numbering off?
Yes, untick the counter option. The parts are then split to the full limit, since no room needs reserving.
How are emoji counted?
As single characters, matching how most platforms count them. X counts some characters differently for non-Latin scripts, so leave a little headroom if you post in Arabic.
Thread Splitter is free and runs entirely in your browser. No account, no upload, no watermark, no limit on use.
